Shipping Off from DC!

Wow the day is finally here! Today we send all our stuff away on a ship to Singapore, making us officially home-less for the next couple of months!

The packing process was surprisingly smooth and efficient. I say surprising mostly because I expected to be more worried and involved. But since we had packed everything we needed into the car already, the movers kind of just took over (I look forward to opening various half-used tubes of creams in Singapore because we did not manage to really sort things into the throw pile!)

It was a whopping pile of boxes (I think 100+ was the final count woof!), of stuff that we will clearly survive without for the next few months, which always makes me realise how superfluous so much of our stuff is to actual living.

We also totally lucked out with our very kind neighbour offering the boys to hang out in her apartment until the dust settled, and she very generously even fed us dinner. This very aptly summed up our DC stint. After the goodbyes to Aunty Lalitha, the sadness continued with a tour of our completely empty apartment. We reminisced, hugged the walls, and thanked the flat. What a year.

And off we went in our trusty car, packed to the brim and with bags at everyone's feet (well, except the driver, but only barely). Bye Wisconsin Ave, we will miss you plenty!
